I am not surprised but I am betting that Microsoft appeals and will probably win. What do you expect
from a company that did the following....?

Microsoft Used Software Activation Without a License, Jury Finds

How ironic that the validation software that Microsoft is using to identify unlicensed operating systems
    is pirated? .

Microsoft appealed this decision and won!! This is just wrong on so many levels...:(

Egad, each time Microsoft run the check on my computer to ensure it has a Verified copy of Windows on it - they are cheating?! I understand why the precedure is done but to 'pirate' someone's idea/program to do it with - shame on them!!

Suspect it must cost a fortune to take something the size of 'Microsoft' on in the Courts - let alone paying for a repeat performance during the Appeal. Perhaps that's how huge corporations normally win - they can simply wear down the little guy by having the financial backing to outlast him/her. :(

And also I wonder how many copyright infrigments go un-noticed, or are worked around?

I think they should give every home pc a free copy of an OS system in compensation

They should be giving Windows away free anyway! It's not worth paying money for it ;)

Not to mention all the money Microsoft would save, as nobody would be paying for it, they wont be under pressure to fix any of the problems so they would save too! :D

    It's a win-win situation.

Or even better if they made Windows an Open Source OS

    LOL!!

I do have a soft spot for Microsoft, though - not for the 'Company' but at least for their actual employees. For how could I not considering my first two days of owning a computer (a used Windows 95 when most others were using Microsoft 2000 already).

Figured out how to turn it on and finally connect to the internet via help from our internet connection people but it opened to a 'blue screen'...which led to the lady at the internet company telling me I had to contact Microsoft for help.

I didn't know any better - so did. Phoned and got the loveliest person who was apparently astonished that I was so excited about having a 'magic box' and although I liked the colour blue, wasn't too sure what I was supposed to do next. That, combined with fact he was surprised I'd phoned not just asking for help but shocked they normally charge for assistance, he was such a dear man. He used 'magic' to run my computer from his location and set it up and then spent 20 minutes teaching me the basics. And never charged me a penny. Gotta love him. :)

Lol yes, Linux indeed is a great OS, I can't wait for Google's OS to appear in public if they plan it to! :D

I was just imagining what it would be like if every OS was open source... :)
