I have a problem with Malwarebytes, when I try to run a scan using this laptop ( HP Compaq 6720s), the scan stops after a few minutes and just hangs, nothing will get it unfrozen, have left it for more than an hour but the only route out is to power off which I hate doing. I have uninstalled and re-installed MB but it still locks up.

I use MB, Superantispyware, Avast & Ccleaner as my admin tools. Scans with SuperA' & Avast come up clean but I have found in the past that MB sometimes detects stuff that SuperA' doesn't so I would like to have it in my armoury as it where.

Another issue which I am curious as to wether there is a relationship with the MB problem is that I am constantly being plagued by "Firefox Not Responding" lock ups whilst surfing, using AOL and will not be renewing !!

Hi. Have you tried running Malwarebytes in safe mode?

Match, was that an attempt at being poetic. Puleeze let me try.

There was a computer from Ian
    Which makes the thing European
    A PC it's not
    But a laptop so hot
    That Malwarebytes he ain't seein.

After my small bow, i believe that Match is suggesting that heat may also be an issue.[IMG]

My apologise for post #3, but it was a nice bottle of wine,

Is it just and only with MalawareBytes ? and are you running anything else at the same time like Avast in the background, as DSTM has suggested will it finish the scan in safe mode?

It may well be a corrupt registry entry for MBAM. ( if it's only happening with this program)

Just uninstalling MBAM won't clear all the registry entries, these should be cleared before a fresh copy is downloaded.

    • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
    • Restart your computer (very important).
    • Download and run mbam clean
    • It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
    • After the computer restarts, install the latest version from Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

    See if this helps.

One out of 2 isn't bad for a start.

I'll have a look into this, as i suspect the other staff will as well.

Now nearly two months on from the last post, Firefox has been updated at least twice since then which may have cleared that issue. So if anyone does have problems and the version is a lower number than 6.0.2 updating may clear it.
to do so click Help, then select "About Firefox" the version number will be displayed there and also the update button if it does need it.

  10. Have you tried using Kaspersky Antivirus? If you haven't then you should definitely try it because it has work well for me. With regards to your other problem, sometimes Firefox has a habit of letting out dialog boxes prompting similar warnings and along with it the entire browser goes pale, I then got annoyed because it affects my entire work. My suggestion for this is to go to an expert and let them do virus scans on your unit so that the main cause of your problems can be found and eliminated...
