Read an old post that has now disappeared:....OR, it may have been in another Malware forum. I forget now.

After reading this I looked and found I no longer had Malwarebytes on my PC. So I downloaded v. 3.8.3 free and installed it for I thought it a good thing. I am sure I had it....maybe on other laptop which I seldom use. Ran a scan and it found 7 items which I removed.

I did not understand them but assumed they were bad and removed them. Then removed 12 more the next day. If I find them I will post them. Have to look at MWB to see if it keeps a record of what cleaned or detected.

    To find the reports
    • From the main Dashboard click Reports (left hand side)
    • Double click on the scan log which shows the Date and time of the scan that showed the infections.
    • Click Export >> Copy to Clipboard
    • Paste the contents of the clipboard into your reply.

All the info you need is in the prep guide at the beginning of this forum.

Open Malwarebytes and you get the Dashboard.
In the left pane, click on Quarantine and you will see what is in there. You have the choice to either remove what is in there are restore it. I rarely restore anything it finds.

In the left pane, click on scan reports. There are the scans done are listed by date. You can open and view any report, as was posted above by starbuck to paste them into your posts here. I regularly remove some of the reports. I don't need reports from months ago. My scans are done weekly so I only keep at most 4 reports.

Found these so far. Will post more as soon as I learn to use. Have not read the above yet.
Should I just leave this running in the lower right tray, or turn it on and off?

Nothing to worry about there, Malwarebytes only found PuP's (Potentially Unwanted Program)
These are typically installed along with 'Free' programs.
Some people actually want to install these, that's why they're listed as 'potentially unwanted' although most of the time they are installed on the quiet.
They're not malicious.... just annoying ( if you didn't want them).

If Malwarebytes is the free version, you can turn it off now.

Should I keep the free version or is it best to remove it? Or simply turn it on and off as I wish?

There's no harm in leaving it on your system.
So just keep it and run a manual scan as and when you want.
Malwarebytes should always download the latest definitions itself before it runs a scan.
