    Hi all,

Apologies if this is the wrong thread to post this in.

I've been given a laptop that initially had a virus that prevented any apps from loading. Managed to clean this off but now the auto updates won't switch on.

It has AVG and that came up clean. Malwarebytes anti-malware also came up clean. Unfortunately the laptop didn't come with the original CDs so simply can't reinstall everything.

It's running XP Home Edition version 2002 Service Pack 2.

Can anyone suggest anything I could try please.

    Many thanks,

    Clive.

As you are running XP, you could give this a try: (only works for XP)

    Download Dial-a-fix from:
