What is the best antivirus to use on a Mac-book? My granddaughter has one she uses it for college. When she bought it there was Web root Anywhere on it but the subscription is lapsed. I was looking at the free ones but they are Avast, AVG and some others which I will not use. She had some adware on there so I took that out with Malwarebytes. Would Malwarebytes premium be enough to put on.
I don't know much about Apple systems so I appreciate any advice. I offered to pay for something for her (she is a starving college student her last year) so I wanted to help keep her Mac safer. Web root has a good rating from a site I checked on the internet but I've never used it.

I would think MBAM would do the job. ClamAV used to be the go-to AV for Macs. Don't know where it stands these days.
I'll post the question to my Mac user group. Remind me if I don't get back to you in a couple of days.

I read somewhere that Clam AV hasn't been kept up with. I had it on my Linux machine but read somewhere not to use it. Thanks for checking for me. Malwarebytes premium is $39.95 a year for one machine same price as Web root anywhere. I would trust Malwarebytes before Web root.

I would avoid these bloated antivirus programs that claim to be a jack of all trades, but are masters of none.

In the years I've been working on Macs, I've never come across an infection that Malwarebytes couldn't remove. Note that those infections would have been prevented completely if Malwarebytes Premium was installed.

Thanks Seth I am going with Malwarebytes premium. Cindy gave me a link for 18 months. I've used Malwarebytes forever on my windows machines.
