Looks like they listened to how loud their CPU coolers were under load.

Hey Ray very nice! It's a bit late for AMD but better late than never. That cooler looks like it will cool just fine while staying far quieter than the hair dryer cooler on the former model. If I do another FX 8350 *70* build and I should be doing one soon enough I will go ahead and order that unit see how it operates.

 

I will too if I build another one. Just bought a Laptop so won't be using desktop as much now. The new AMD CPU's coming out are supposed to be much faster, but we also heard that with Phenom II so time will tell.

 

If I had to venture a guess the new AMD chips yet to arrive will be about as fast (per core strength) as the I5 3570k maybe the 4670k, which is not bad at all, plus a more cores. You motherboard will handle an FX 8370 as well that would be a very nice upgrade for you. So you got a latop huh? I hope that doesn't mean you will be quitting gaming .

If I had your board I would get that FX 8370 and an R9 380. That would be an awesome AMD gaming rig.

 

I'll still game but I just don't as much as I once did. Yes that would be a good upgrade, but I would also get a new PSU as mine is over 5 years old now. Believe it or not my old HD5770 still does well for games.

 

Yeah the HD 5770 is still a good little card and it was not long ago it was the best value card AMD had. During that era I had the HD 6850 which was similar. The FX 8370 would for sure get you at least 10-20 FPS more in a lot of games even with the older card.

 

I will use that card till it dies, but it's been going strong for at least 6 years. Of course the first thing I did was take the heatsink off and put arctic silver on it. They had it coated and it probably would have died sooner had I not done that.

 

I know what it's like to get attached to one very particular GPU. In my case it was an MSI GTX 660ti. I bought 2 still have one of them.

 

Still have a pic of that card on my phone. A build more than two years ago with a z87/4670k and the GTX 660ti. What a card it was and still is.
