Logitech software was installed successfully. Camera and software are working like they are supposed to. Thanks so much.

    Hi CarolsSis

    Sorry i was away yesterday.
The OTL fix removed all of the logitech folders, so should have given you a clear run to reinstall it.

    That's good to hear.

Run everything for a day or two and if everything is still ok, we'll finish off the cleaning process and remove the tools we've used.

Thank you for the promise of continued help. I have several questions, not necessarily related to the uninstall, that I hope to get answered. As of this time, the computer and software are performing as expected. Looks good to go for removal of apps we used, and hopefully some of the "crap" installed here from mfg. I read the post about a "decrapifier" and hoped we could talk about that. Thanks so much for your help.

    Hi CarolsSis

    Not a problem.
As this is no longer a malware issue, if i can't answer your questions one of the other staff will.

    Ok,
As you will know a lot of computer manufacturers will add programs for their own benefit and these programs can sometimes bog a system down.
PC Decrapifier is a free tool for you to use that helps remove programs, unnecessary startup items and icons that can slow down your PC. It takes you step by step, giving you recommendations on what to remove, many of which can be removed unattended.
PC Decrapifier works with all versions of Windows 7, Windows XP and Vista.
There's a full list of what it'll remove Here

Here's my canned speech for the program:

The PC Decrapifier will uninstall many of the common trialware and annoyances found on many of the PCs from big name OEMs.

    Download Pc-decrapifier
    Save it to your Desktop.
Click on the desktop icon to run the program (there's no installer)
    Follow the prompts.
You can create a restore point. This can be useful to recover from an unexpected error.
You will have the choice to pick and choose what you want to remove.
It will not begin removing anything without prompting you first!

    Note:
Your anti-virus software may complain about this program because it is written with a scripting language. These warnings can be safely ignored.

There's a simple guide on how to run it Here.

Now to remove any programs we have used:

    Step 1
    Restart MBAM.
    Click on the Quarantine tab
If there are items in quarantine.....
Make sure everything is selected and then click Delete All.
    Close MBAM.

    Step 2
    • Please double-click OTL.exe to run it.
    • You should see a CleanUp! button, press that button,

    • This will cleanup an assortment of tools used during malware removal, plus itself

    Note:
    MBAM will not be removed

Let me know how the PC Decrapifier goes and as i said.... feel free to ask any questions.

OTL removed, no problems, MBAM, no quarantines, none were found, will keep it installed to run in the future. Decrapifier run, removed all those silly game programs installed by Acer game zone. There seems to be an issue with slow down of start up and log off, I would normally run defrag to see how things could be sped up, since all the work before running it is already done, ie. delete of all the temp files, etc. I also have pale blue Acer screen momentarily, before Windows screen comes up. It gives F2 or F12 to use BIOS or Start up, going to either one and chosing "normal start up" does not cancel the Acer pale blue screen. Thanks again for all the info and help. I can post this to a different thread if necessary.

    Hi CarolsSis

This is a defrag program i use and recommend, if you want to try it.

    Download Puran Disc Defragmenter
    Save it to your 'Desktop'.
    Run the program.
From the main 'Puran Defrag' screen, click on the 'C' drive to highlight it.
    Then click on 'Defrag'.

This program is faster than the built in Windows Defrag and is more efficient.
Try not to use the m/c while the defrag is running.

See if the system runs any faster afterwards.

If you want a good temp file cleaning program, this is what i recommend.
It's made by OT ( the same person that writes OTL)

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop
    • Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
    • It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
    • Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
    • Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Has this screen always been there?
I have a simillar screen on this system, but i leave it and it carrys on with the boot procedure within a couple of seconds.
I've seen simillar screens on Dell systems as well.
It's just a way of entering the bios or system settings at start up..... but most will never actually need those options.

Just carry on posting here, it's easier.

I know this is off topic, but you stated to post here, it's easier. We have a desktop computer also, with HP psc 950, attached. We used to be able to fax, but now all we get is "beep" and no fax is sent. I think I read somewhere that it will not send a fax if the phone is digital. We had analog phone when we first moved here, then changed to digital, with a Cox bundle for tv, hi speed internet and digital phone. We now cannot send fax, is this the reason why? Our HP 4 in 1 has been working fine otherwise. Thanks for any info you can give me.
