Did Skype release an update? I couldn't get it to work in the beta versions and hadn't tried it since. It's on your list so I'll give it a try again.

Rather than list them, this is a screenshot of all the icons for every program that I have found will run on W7 either in the 64bit program folder or 32bit.
The dog in the wallpaper shot is my now deceased old mate.

I have a few software disks for windows XP, when I bought a new computer, when I try to download that software I get a message that it's not compatable with this operating system. I heard there is a way to download those type of software, but haven't found how to do it yet. Any help would be greatly apprecated. Thank-you for any help. Jonathan Huffman

This thread involved software that worked with Windows 7 pretty much when it was still in testing.  Many people are likely to not even look at a new post in this thread.  To get the best results you should always start a new thread/topic specific to your issue.  This way the posts are centered around your issue.

    Hi Huffman

as Jaylach states this is an old thread that as I remember was started before or just after the release of Win 7, if you start a new thread in the Windows 7 forum and state specific software titles I'm sure you will get the help you require :)

Actually, that's not a bad idea. There are quite a few outdated programs on here.

I agree a pretty good idea since some of us here are using Windows 10. Some programs are compatible but there are some differences, an example would be the latest version of CoreTemp, which is completely awful really because for one the new .exe version tries to install about 10 pieces of malware on your PC and it does not auto load correctly so out of 5 versions I tested one works perfectly with Windows 10 which is 0.99.8

I don't think that you would really want to try and run outdated programs in compatibility mode.

Dougie it is all personal experience but whenever I have tried that, my whole system became unstable even if the program worked in compatibility mode. I always told myself
it is payback from the OS.
