Laptop of one of my friends is taking too much time to boot. He bought it recently. At start it was ok. He installed some programs later. They might have affected it. I disabled all start up programs but it did not make any difference.

    Specs:

    1. Windows 10 home
    2. Intel core i7 Gen
    3. Ram 8 GB

We uninstalled 2 programs recently, Tunnel bear, and quickheal.

    Scan results are attached.

I also scanned it with AdwCleaner but forgot to copy the log results. If it is located somewhere on hard disk, let me know. I shall post results here.

    Hi Umar,

A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder.
If you only ran a scan, the file will have [S0] at the end.
If you ran the clean option the file will have [C0] at the end.
Assuming AdwCleaner has only been run once.

    Step 1
Nothing really standing out in the reports.
But this is never a good idea:
I see MsConfig was used to try and stop the program starting with Windows.
As you see from the report... it isn't that easy.
Open uTorrent and from the menu bar go to Options \ Preferences and under the General section uncheck the box next to Start uTorrent on system startup, then click Ok to close out of Preferences.

    Step 2
A few things that can be cleaned....

Copy the script within the quote box below: (make sure that you include Start:: and End:: as these are the clipboard notifiers).

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine.
Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

Re-run FRST/FRST64 (which ever is installed ) and press the Fix button just once and wait.

The tool will make a log in the same directory that FRST is run from (Fixlog.txt).
Please post this in your next reply.

    Step 2
It may well be one of these programs.
Try a 'Clean Boot' and see if the slowness is still there.

    To run a Clean Boot:
    • Press the Windows key + R at the same time and then type Msconfig in the run window, click on OK or hit enter.
    • Choose Selective Start-up
    • Remove the check from Load Startup Items
    • Click on the Services tab
    • Check “Hide all Microsoft Services” and then click on Disable All... <<<<<<<<<<< Important
By performing these two steps, you have effectively turned off all services from third-party software developers.
All Microsoft services remain intact and will be ready to load when you reboot Windows
      .
    • Click on Apply and then on OK.
A message will appear that you need to restart your system, do this.
When you reboot, you may get messages that certain hardware and software are not unavailable.
    This is normal
    .

Just be sure to hide all Microsoft services before you use the Disable All button.
Otherwise, you may encounter boot up errors when you reboot your PC
    .

Remember, running Windows like this is just temporary.

    How to Disable Clean Boot?

It’s the same as how to clean boot, only then you check the boxes, and click on Enable All in step 5.

In your next reply, please submit:
    AdwCleaner report from earlier
    Fixlog.txt from the FRST fix.

Also let me know if the system runs any better with the Clean Boot.

    Thanks.
