Hello everyone at Computer Help Forums! :)

I really need your help! I am obviously computer illiterate and as my nickname suggests quite in distress because of the problem.

Recently I have downloaded a program called PC Tools Firewall Plus because I thought it will help protect my computer.. Oh how wrong was I! ;(

Along with the program some kind of malicious malware must have downloaded because since then the PC keeps rebooting every 1-2 minutes! It's so frustrating I've tried to go to control panel and remove the program though it proved to be impossible

Even as I write I'm worried it will reboot again, so apologies for the brevity of message and spelling mistakes.

    Please have mercy and help!!!!

Before we treat this as an actual malware removal issue which will require one of our experts in that area try doing a system restore back to a point before you installed this software. In XP you can go to programs > accessories> system tools > System Restore.

There should be a choice of restore points. Choose the latest one available that is before you made the changes. Hopefully this will bring things back the way it was. However, if you did download something malicious it may have removed your restore points.

Where did you get the download?

thank you for your help and your best intentions BeeCeeBee, but unfortunately it has not worked :(

I went to programs > accessories> system tools > System Restore and chose the farthest of the dates (28 July) however it has not worked and it prompted me to choose another date, so I chose August 13th, again it has not worked :(

something tells me that this virus prevents from removing this program, 'cause each time I try it goes to reboot..

If you (or anyone else) have any other suggestions then please please pleeeeeaaaase post them

There is no point in duplicating resources. Please decide where you wish to proceed and advise us as to whether you wish to proceed here or elsewhere.

I see you have tried to help her elsewhere as you noted. I see no point in keeping this open as well.
