A few days ago, something about Cortana appeared in the bottom left-hand corner of my computer. I clicked on it. At first, nothing seemed to have happened. How-ever, the next time I tried to use my keyboard (as opposed to my mouse), the keyboard made a ping sound and did nothing else when-ever I hit a key. The touchpad was also de-activated. This might be a coincidence with my clicking on the Cortana or not.

When I turn off my computer and re-start it, I CAN use the keyboard to type in my password, but after that, when Windows starts up, the keyboard doesn't work. I have searched my device descriptions, and they say the keyboard is okeh. I have up-dated the software for them (by clicking on that option in the descriptions window), but that makes no difference. I have rolled back the updates to no avail, and then re-updated -- also to no avail.

How do I get my keyboards (laptop built-in one and especially the one attached through a USB port) to work again?

Sounds like a hardware problem here and without knowing your hardware and make or model of pc or laptop, there isn't much we can offer you.
