"We wondered some time ago and concluded that Microsoft might kill the Control Panel completely with future updates to Windows. Today, it became official. Microsoft wants you to learn the new Settings app and forget about other PC management tools."

For goodness sake I have no issues with change but why does change always add functions to the task instead of making it easier and quicker.

I am getting tired very quickly of this Windows 10 circus. Thinking seriously of a clean install and back to Windows 7 SP1 with this last computer I have Windows 10 on. What little I have gained is not worth it,IMO

I'm finding it a real chore just to boot my Windows 10 machine once every couple of days.
I've really lost interest in it lately.

You both know why. Why is that Windows 10 was totally unneeded. It does not offer anything that 7 can't do.
It did not fix the main issues with Windows 8 and almost everything you have to do on it takes longer with more steps than we did on Windows 7.
That's why this version of Windows is completely unneeded. The only ones excited about it are the techs who would install Windows 11 tomorrow,
even if it were exactly the same as Windows 10 because they feel they have to be on top of the newest and the kewlest, something none of us give a damn about any more.

I force myself to play around with it because as a tech, I need to know the operating system.
I don't and will not ever use it for anything important such as online banking or shopping.

I don't even have an email client in use on my Windows 10 machine.
I also rolled my husband's laptop back to Windows 8.1.

My clean install on my Dell All-in-One is running fine but like the rest of you I leave it there so I can learn it
and answer questions from it. My laptop will remain on 8.1 as it was a nightmare on the 10 Upgrade. And all my business info
is done strictly on my Windows 7 desktop though every pc can access the files on the server.

All I can say is WOW! I remember when you first installed Win10. You were a major player in the push to the new system. You almost made me install it that night by your words of inspiration. I can't believe you would be thinking about going back to Win 7.

Yes I was excited like the millions who couldn't wait to upgrade to Windows 10. That excitement has changed after running it and getting to know it. Except for faster data tranfer due to better drivers I am very disappointed the changes Microsoft are making all the time giving us less and less control over our own computers. Microsoft are making any changes they wish without giving us an option. That stinks of "Big Brother"
The huge computer shop I frequent spend 70% of their time taking Windows10 off and their customers want Windows7 where the bios will let them. Was 80% a month ago. Yes there are Hacks and workarounds but is it worth it for what? I would love the know the real numbers world wide who have rolled back or done clean reinstalls back to earlier OS's. I think the numbers would be staggering if we had the data.I expected a great OS not something no better than a Windows 8.1 Service pack. I have changed my mind and I have let it be known.:)

Well, Dougie, here's another who rolled back from Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 which I had prior. However, I am still stuck with the Windows 10 tile system and wish I could go back to what I had with Windows Vista before I bought my present CP which had W8 as standard. Do you know how I can change back to that other system?
    Best wishes.

Thank you, Dougie for that. No, I wasn't thinking of going back to Vista. XP was better than Vista IMO but I would like that system of getting around. Many thanks again.

Yes, Dougie, I am afraid to say it is Opal Door Software - billed by MyComerce (ADigital River Company) and shows on my bank statement as Dri RegDoc. Have I been scammed?

That should be Opaldoor - one word. Nothing to do with Black Opal I'm sure - that fine Australian wine!

The only thing that I found for Opaldoor was herdProtect Antimalware.
The company itself is located in India.

Did you purchase something from Digital River?

Thank you, allheart for your input. Yes, I had a problem with my PC and a flag popped up purporting to be from my ISP and gave a "Freephone Number" number to call which lasted for almost two hours while they went through procedures to fix my CP and wound up downloading their software for a price. Now I am trying to get my bank to cancel as the software hasn't worked like it was supposed to. Next day, I ran my Malware and it came up with 25 items which were quarantined. So, have I been scammed?
