Glad I found this forum and hope to get some advice. I think my video card has died. Desktop was working fine until the next morning when I turn pc on, I get NO VIDEO SIGNAL. I was using a HDMI cable, so I tried different one, same problem. Then I tried the DL-DVI cable with same results. The HDMI on the motherboard WILL work. Also in the photo is the video card with a dark spot on it, what could that be? It looks like something was poured on there but I know it wasn't, I live by myself. Has something burnt out there?

    Hello and welcome Thomas,
I've not seen that before. As you said, it looks like something has been poured on it. It's pretty 'cruddy'.

At this point, you have nothing to lose. Pull that card and use some alcohol to clean it off. It might just work.

    Thanks

Maybe if you get that crud off, it may work. Do you have any pets?

Well I gave it a try but nothing happens, must be burned out. If the HDMI will work in the motherboard does that mean that it's just the video card that's bad? Hate to by a card and be something else wrong and the new card not work either.

Can't say for sure. It's possible that something on the video card may have taken out something on the main board. That's rare, but could have happened.

(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.) The PCI Express is up to 4.0 now I believe and that is why they told you that you can't upgrade the video card. If you don't do any gaming the onboard video will work good enough. You could also get a preowned video card on eBay but be very cautious on eBay. Also I think the PCI slot is backward compatible and the newer cards will work but not at the rated specs of that board.

I don't buy used, just asking for more trouble. Guess I will look for another like I have to replace it or get another desktop. This one is old, bought it in 2017. I use it to play World of Warships and Tanks so onboard would be no good to me.
    Thanks

Well seems like I am unable to find a card for this old desktop. Can someone recommend a top-notch card to match this card that will work with this motherboard please?
    Thanks
