First I must warn everyone not to feel bad because I am famous for having problems nobody can fix....yet I gotta try, dont I?
Any clue as to why I am always getting cant display page message, for whole pages and even partial pages where message shows up in different locations? Like right now with this forum, I am writing messages, reading them, yet here and there this message appears here and there within the page. Like some part of page doesnt pass inspection. Diagnostics says no problems. I change proxy settings. No improvement. Can this be some kind of security settings? Blocking something? Maybe server problems or offline? If whole page not display I understand, but how can parts of a displayed page carry this "cannot display" box?

XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. You are susceptible to all kinds of vulnerabilities on the internet. Why don't you try Firefox or Chrome and see if you have a problem.

An unsupported version of Windows will no longer receive software updates from Windows Update. These include security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software, which can steal your personal information. Windows Update also installs the latest software updates to improve the reliability of Windows—new drivers for your hardware and more.

That's OK my Aussie friend. I'm sure you can handle any thing that comes your way. I'm not very worried about you.;)
I just post what I think should be posted and the reader can make their own decisions about my reply.
I would not be afraid to go on the internet with XP, but then again I'm not going to tempt the devil either.
PS Why do you think you need XP SP3. Is there a purpose for it?? Do you think it's safe to go on the internet with XP??
I'm always trying to learn these things.
    Thanks Dougie!

Yes there is a purpose, Gary.

I need XP to advise members on our site with XP related issues.
I am experienced enough to remember most things.
When your posting the path (steps) it handy to check the path yourself before posting.:)

    Answer to your other question.

Do I think it is safe to go on the internet with XP?

Providing you have good AV/Malware security programs running with your XP SP3 OS, I can't see a problem.
When security programs stop supporting XP then it's a definite risk.
They say that's a couple of years off yet.

Like to know what Starbuck thinks.:)

Thanks Dougie!!;);) I loved Xp Sp3. But I have grown to love W7 now. If you don't need XP to help others, then it's time to up grade. That's all I'm saying my friend and that's what I'm trying to tell the OP. I do not doubt your wisdom my friend. If you think it's safe to use, I have no problem with that! I just can't be sure of that and that's why I replied like I did!
PS These discussions are a good thing IMHO!See you on the flip flop my friend. :)

I followed advice and am trying Firefox 368, made it default browser. I am not saying I am not vulnerable and i guess even if no sensitive data or dangerous websites I still could experience crashes, failures, and the like. I just have it because I do and use it because I do, not because I think it is modern or perfect. I now have 3 W98se desktops, an XP desktop and a laptop, and a W-7 laptop. That is about as primitive and modern as I get. I do order things on internet and use forums and use Google search. Have nothing valuable or critical on PCs where I would be ruined if someone stole them, but at the same time I am cautious as can be and I am not afraid to use any of the PCs, but do realize their limitations as they get older. So far as I know I have never had trouble I recognize as computer protection related, though it would be stupid to say it cant or wont happen. I try to be careful but life is a risk so I try to be realistic and careful at same time. My way is not for everyone and I would t tell everyone to do as I do. But I wanted to say I do realize XP and 98 are old, unprotected, risky, and vulnerable to all sorts of problems. I use laptops mostly and about equally for convenient, as long as they work for my purposes. Don't use for business, income or profit...solely for personal desires. Just didnt want to appear totally behind the times if I post relative to antiquated OS or equipment. I do realize it is that, but if I have a problem I give posting a try. Thanks for your patience, my friends.

Uh Oh. Firefox wants to update itself and the plug in. Doing that now if possible. Had Firfox but never bothered to use. Is it better than IE 8 or IE 11?

Firefox is my first choice. I hope you like it! I believe it to be safer that IE, but that will start a conversation.;)
You can have all the browsers you want.

I made Firefox the default browser and I am sure I will like it, and it is now updated and happy with version 35.0.1 it says, along with the Flash Player and plug in update.
Now to enable WOT somehow. Any tips?
