    Hello!

I've had this problem for a month now. It is that my internet connection disconnects and reconnects about once a minute. It does this for both wireless and wired connection. I've watched the whole freaking internet and still nope. The reconnection takes about 10 seconds, sometimes up to a minute and sometimes I have to restart my laptop or put it to sleep mode then wake it up. I game a lot, and this is a huge problem for online gaming. Just so you know, I'm the only one who is experiencing this problem of 3 people who use the same modem/router. I've done basically everything I can, updated drivers, changed the internet cable, changed the modem/router about 5 billion times, restarted the modem/router an infinite amount of times, unchecked the "save power" thing in my network adapters in the device manager, changed some IP stuff and the list goes on. When I have a connection, it is not slow, it is actually very fast (download speed about 10mb/s).
Before you post an answer, keep in mind that I don't know basically any advanced computer stuff.

    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to CHF :)

If your machine is the only casualty - the others connect OK - it is unlikely to be the router.
What I find confusing is that you say that the machine drops out wireless AND wired.
Usually there are few problems with a wired connection.

You don't say which operating system you are using ?

Does the system re-connect by itself without you doing anything ?

    Try the following:
    ( assuming Vista / Win 7 )
Start > type in ......cmd ......right click on the cmd.exe that appears top left of screen.
    Click on Run as Administrator
At the Command Prompt ( black background ) type in ....
ipconfig /release .........hit ENTER [ there is a space after ipconfig ]
    then type ....
    ipconfig /renew
    then type .....
    ipconfig /flushdns

    Try the connection again.

So now I tested it, nope, still reconnecting.
And also, yes, it reconnects without me doing anything really.

    Take a look here please:

Start > Control Panel ( I hope this is correct - on Win 8 at the moment )
    1. Double-click Network and Sharing Center.
    2. From the list of tasks on the left, click Change adapter settings
    3. For the wired network connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and select Properties.

For the wireless network connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and select Properties.
      Do this for both ....
    4. From the Networking tab, make sure Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) is checked ( highlighted ) , and then click Properties.
    5. Select Obtain an IP Address Automatically, and then click OK.
    6. Do the same for DNS Servers.

We will stick with the wired connection for the time being ( less complex )

Right click on Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
    Update driver.
You will need an internet connection ( if it stays connected long enough )
    Let Windows search automatically.

Does the wired connection drop out at the same time as the Wireless and with the same frequency ?

What is the make and model number of your pc ? ( laptop ? )

I have the best drivers already installed (after letting windows search)
This far I see no difference between wired and wireless connections, they both do the exact same thing.
I have an Asus Republic of Gamers G75V (it's called G75V on the back of the laptop, but on the box where it was when I bought it, it is called G75VW)

Download MBAM from here: ( assuming you have enough time )

Install > Update > run it.

It will produce a log in Notepad.
Copy this and post it here.

Let's rule out malware as a cause.

Please confirm that this is your system:

The drivers are here for the LAN and Wireless.
If MBAM comes back clear we will download the LAN drivers to the Desktop ( easy to find ) > uninstall the present LAN drivers and re-install.

How long time will it take? Because if it will take too much time I'm going to have to leave it scanning for the night

Considering that i installed, or it should've, the drivers and windows automatically installed the driver I had before uninstalling it, it didn't quite work the way it was supposed to.

    Hi
I am not a malware expert - but there seems to have been a password stealer ( amongst other things ) on your system.

I will ask one of the security experts to take a look at the MBAM log.
In the mean time - if you use this machine for banking ..... I would advise that you check your accounts and change the passwords.
DO NOT use this machine to do it.

I may be over-reacting but better safe than sorry.

One of our malware experts will advise soon - please be patient.
