Malwarebytes combines the malware-fighting technology of — anti-malware, anti-ransomware, anti-exploit, and malicious website protection—into one program that scans 4x faster than previous versions of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Real-time protection monitors your computer in real-time and if you attempt open a malicious program or file, Malwarebytes will block it and automatically quarantine the file.

The anti-ransomware feature protects you from existing and new ransomware threats that may infect your computer. When Malwarebytes anti-ransomware detects ransomware behavior, such as file encryption, it will automatically halt the process exhibiting this behavior so that it cannot continue encrypting your computer.

The anti-exploit feature protects your compuer from exploit kits that try to attack vulnerabilities found in Windows and your installed programs. If Malwarebytes anti-exploit detects an exploit kit on a site that you are visiting or one that is attempting to exploit your computer's vulnerabilities, Malwarebytes will block it before it can infect your computer.

The malicious website protection feature will block your computer from accessing known malicious sites.
These sites are labeled as malicious if they are known to offer malware, adware, pups, in-browser miners, or are hosting exploit kits.
By using the malicious protect feature, your computer will be blocked from threats before they have a chance to attack you.

On installation the 14 day trial version will begin.
At the end of the 14 day trial, the program will switch to the free version. (and you will lose some of the functions)

Although compatible with Win XP through to Win 10 ....The Anti-Ransomware technology is only enabled on Windows 7 or higher.

You do not have to pay for anything.

    Please download MalwareBytes
and save it to your desktop.
    • Right-click on the Malwarebytes icon and select Run as Administrator. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    • Then click Finish.
    • When Malwarebytes opens, click on the Scan button..
    • Malwarebytes will update its databases, then start scanning.
    • If no threats are found, close the Malwarebytes window. If threats are detected, make sure they are all selected and click Quarantine.

    Note
The free version and the paid for version (Pro Version) are now the same.
If you only want the free version to run in future
    • Click on Settings (the gear wheel, top right hand side)
    • Click Account
    • Click DeActivate
