    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone might have a solution. I have Photoshop 6 and
I would like to install it on Vista 64. When I run the setup extension,
it gets to 100%, pauses for a while, and then disappears.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

I doubt it's vista compatible. With CS3 out dont count on a patch
    either.

    Time to upgrade.

Just a hunch... you running Vista 64 bit?

If so that could be the problem. Try this and see if it helps:

Have you tried installing using compatibility mode?

    Hey Frank,

I had it in test mode(don't know if its the same) and I ran cmd.exe
with regsvr32 jscript.dll, it took a while, but it seemed to pull
through. I am using PS6 now it works great! I haven't taken it out of
test mode yet, and will see if that affects it.

I had no trouble installing PS 6.0 in Vista 64, but it was running very
poorly, lots of rolling circles and whiteouts and after the latest
Nvidia driver updates (9/09), it had blackouts. I rolled back the latest
Nvidia driver update, then I set the program compatibility for Windows
2000, and it's running quite well. Windows XP sp2 compatibility works
too, but the 2000 seems to work even better.

    So, Windows sucks?
Or, Windows doesn't suck when you tweak every friggen program to run on an
OS that is 9 years old after you paid for a new OS?

GIMP doesn't need to run in compatibility mode...it just runs.

    I miss BSOD

  11. Photoshop is one prgram which actually does use all those Gigabytes of
memory, most other popular softwares never get to reach.
Even if my 32-bit Vista laptop is equipped with maximum possible 4GB,
Photoshop puts it to a test...
I am using Adobe CreativeSuite 4 and Photoshop is part of it....
But also unlike regular home users, I am running many CAD packages here
which eat much memory, one of them even cites "16GB" as desirable for
    certain simulations.
I know people will laugh at this several years later, but today it's still a
    gigantic amount of memory.

So besides compatibility settings, maybe you could imporve by installing
    memory of at least 4GB.
And Adobe CS4 as a version, is a great improvment over you rold version 6.

Photoshop 6 is simply too old now to do what you want to do.
