Hi Everyone. I would like to start a thread displaying special Images that capture an event that has happened in our time.

Both happy and unfortunate events that mark our History.
Feel free to post if you find a that special image and also to comment.
Would you also post a short description of what we are looking at including date and any other Stats of interest. Thanks. :smile2:

This Photo was taken during the killer Bush Fires we had here in the state of Victoria in 2009.
Wiped out much of our Wildlife in that area and killed quite a few people.
This Koala although badly burnt accepts the kindness from a Fire Fighter.

This is a really good idea, my hope is that we keep this thread to that kind of image.

who cared enough for this Koala.

    It's raining cats and dogs
    May. 16, 2011
    [IMG]
Animals were falling from the sky across the province this year, as birds of prey plucked abandoned pets from the ground and plopped them down far from home.

"Miracle May," a white toy poodle, plunged to the roof of a Sechelt nursing home this spring, and a tiny kitten nicknamed Hawk came through relatively unscathed after a red-tailed hawk dropped him into a Nanaimo landfill.
The six-year-old poodle, dubbed "Miracle May" by workers, fell from the sky onto the Shorncliff Nursing Home in Sechelt on May 2.
Nurses at the facility cared for the hurt dog until the SPCA could come collect her.
May suffered several gouges to her neck, claw marks to her back and multiple broken ribs from the harrowing ordeal.

Aaah, love! How charming that is to see, Ken B!

And it is so nice to see a human sharing some water with an undoubtedly thirsty little creature, Kayrose.

Thank you both for adding these!

I have taken the liberty of removing a number of photos from this thread. None of them were offensive in any way. I think the point of this thread is to post poignant photos that depict the little things that express our humanity and it is a wonderful thread. There are many places to post photography and every member is invited to start his/her own thread.

This is a shot of my daughter Michelle (Mick) on a beautiful autumn day out in the woods. She was just a little over a year old or so.

This one from the Vietnam War if I remember correctly.
One image is better than a thousand words.
    I feel her pain.

    Me too, DSTM

An example of a picture being worth a thousand words, but I don't think there are any words that could ever convey the feeling of this..
