Ok. I pulled this old thing from my parents closet,a windows XP ran machine, and it WORKED. I mainly got it just to play some of its games, and actually started to do so. I booted up Spore trail on it, and it was running smoothly, but then I hit the reset button and shut down the computer. After booting it up I got back to looking, moved afew icons around, and Uninstalled the Yahoo messenger and other yahoo programs. But afterwords my games wouldn't start!none of the graphic games would function, stating the mscorwks.dll wasn't set up for the computer! What did I do!?or, better yet, can it be fixed?

May I ask why you chose to hit the reset as opposed to proper shutdown?

Your not an idiot. We all make wrong decisions from time to time. Long as it can be rectified.
Sometimes when the system freezes or locks up a hard shutdown is the only option.
Seldom causes permanent damage to Hardware.

    Thanks for dat.

Anywho, I have done what Rich-M offered, and sadly it didn't rectify my problem.

    "onplay.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v.1.1.4322\mscorwks.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact system administrator or software vendor for support"

    Any other ideas?

Ok. I can try. And please dont think of me as a smartelech.this seems the best way to explain what I did...

    1. Booted up computer

    2. brought up spore trail edition. Played for 10 minutes or so

    3. accidently hit reset.

    4. Booted computer BACK up

    5. Began looking around. Put all current desktop icons in a single file.

    6. Yahoo messenger came up(again) so I decided to uninstall it.

7.uninstalled yahoo messenger and anything related to yahoo.(2 other files. Unsure what they were now)

    8. Booted up spore.
Before the game even loaded, I got this message.

    "onplay.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v.1.1.4322\mscorwks.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact system administrator or software vendor for support"

    That's how the problem arose.
Since then, I've done a scf, attempted to reinstall the framework files, uninstalled and reinstalled spore, and ran chkdsk/r. Nothing has helped

And thank you so much in helping me.

Also. I've attempted a system restore, but it tells me the option is turned off. When I go to try and turn off system protections, the button is nowhere to be found

I would stop uninstalling and installing anything but the game of Spore Trial.
Where did you get the game copy to reinstall?
I would go to the Spore Website and buy a fresh copy.
If you had a copy in downloads it may be years old.
Also just to make sure run this test, Please
When test is finished scroll down and see the result.

As Dougie stated, I would check the Systems Requirement Lab to see if you are even able to run this game.
Spore is graphic intensive and I've known of quite a few people who completely damaged their Windows OS by improperly uninstalling this game.

The file was corrupt I think. I went to look at the mscorwks, and noticed there was multiple versions of it. I simply deleted the one it was focusing on

The .exe file is not loading the unpacked .dll.
I would uninstall it and reinstall a clean copy.

Have you checked out the System Requirements for Spore running on Win XP?

Yes I have. And I've played the trial.
Here's the thing. I've completely cleared everything related to spore and origin, and redownloaded the initial installation file for origin, wich is OriginThinSetup, and nothing is happening
