I Cannot Get My Monitor Screen To Open To Full Size?

Hi,

This is the first time I have posted here.

Can anyone help me with my monitor screen, which will not open to full screen size.

I have had to purchase a new monitor to-day it is a PACKARD BELL VISEO 190W A - 19 inch.

It will not open fully, I have a huge space at the top and bottom. My desk top icons

look squashed, everything just looks smaller.

What can I do to get the screen to open to full size?

Any help or advice I would be so grateful for, it is driving me mad!

I have 1280 by 720 pixels, is this what you mean by resolution size?

It looks like a simple case of getting the resolution right for that monitor. It is easy enough to do. Just a few quick question to make it easier. What operating system are you using and is this a much bigger, smaller , different type of monitor than you had before?

Both monitor's are PACKARD BELL

I am using Internet Explorer

Measurements on my old monitor Depth 11 inch. Corner to corner diagonally 17 inch

On my monitor now Depth 9 inch. Corner to corner diagonally 18 - 19 inch

OK anne, Try this:
Go to your desktop and right click on any open area. Someplace where there are no icons.

A box will come up and from it select "Properties."

Once that comes up select "settings" from the tabs at the top of the properties window.

You will see a monitor probably listed as 1. Below that there is a slider that allows you to adjust the resolution. It is very safe to play with this. Try moving the slider to 1024 x 768. Allow it to make the change and see if that is good. If not try other settings until you are satisfied.
