HP Pavilion AMD Phenom-X4, 64-bit quit on me.
Motherboard M278-LA, PEGATRON, NVIDIA Graphics, SATA 32, 500GB HD, CAVIAR BLUE. Was using normally and it quit. It tried to reboot a couple of times but never did.
Following advice I bought a new OEM SATA Drive and a new Vista OEM OS. Installed the items but never could get it to boot up. A friend of mine said it needed the BIOS Flashed and I let him do it but that didn't help.

Any idea at all what I should do next?

Someone said I needed to install a piece of software prior to installing Microsoft OEM equipment but I can't find any info about it.
When I try to boot I get a prompt that says,
    Boot:
I wait a while and hit enter and I get,
    Booting:

    It just hangs there.
I have tried to boot to setup but no luck
    .
    Any Help appreciated,

    Hi and welcome to C_H_F

I see you have already posted this on the Bleeping site and not made too much progress.

If you were using this "normally and it quit" it is unlikely to be the hard drive.

It sounds more like a power or RAM issue to me.

Is this a desktop or laptop ?

I suggest that you put the old hard drive back in and get the system back to where it was when the problem struck and we can take it from there.

If you are taking advice from Bleeping too you are going to get confused.
I suggest that you decide where you wish to be advised from :)
