Is there any way I can create a bootable USB drive from the 22H2 OS I currently have on my laptop? I don't mean the media creation tool. That means you have to start over w/o updates with a new OS. Currently, my laptop is up-to-date with Windows 10 Pro. If I have to start over again with the media creation tool, the updates may no longer be there after October 2025.

Interesting thought. I don't think what you're asking is possible. However, I could be wrong.

If you make an image of your system, that would include all updates and apps installed. Check the Recommended Software section of this site for suggested imaging programs.

I am afraid you are right. I could think of no way, either. An Image would not bootable. I suppose the best way would be to create an Media Creation Tool at the Microsoft site just prior to October 2025. Thanks.

I don't even think the Mediation Creation Tool created for another PC is bootable. I have never been able to boot from one. Once I even tried to use Rufus to create one, but it would not recognize the tool at all to be able to burn it to the USB.

    Check out Acronis True Image.
You can make an image of your hard drive complete with a bootable CD.

I've used the Media Creation Tool to make bootable USB drives. Works for me. I've made a few of them over the years as new Windows versions come out.
