Tried to clone my computer drive with a new USB external hard drive, instead it did the reverse and overwrote all my data. It also moved my partitions. I have run EaseUS and scanned my D drive. It has retrieved thousands of documents and photos in bits and pieces - a few are complete. Now I would like a software program that helps me reestablish my partition positions. My C drive is on an SSD and still contains all my software and folders, which are showing up as empty.

Hello Ooga123 and welcome. Sorry to hear the clone procedure didn't work the way you had expected. It's one reason I don't clone. I make images to a spare drive and then restore. It's an extra step, but I think it's worth the time.

Anyway, personally, I don't think there's anything you can do to reverse what you've already done.

I suggest you recover whatever you can and copy those files to a separate drive. Here are suggestions for recovery software found in our Recommended Software forum.

After you have the files backed up to another storage medium, you can partition your drive. Here are suggestions for partitioning found in our recommended software forum.

Two excellent programs for partition recovery are Mini Tool Partition Wizard and EaseUS. However, the success rate for what you're trying to achieve is slim. You most likely will have to deal with standard data recovery.

The cloning process made the old drive look like the blank drive. Therefore the partitions were deleted. As Seth said, recovery is slim. You'll probably need a professional data recovery service.
