My laptop screen builds up smudges. What use to wipe & clean? I use water-damp cloth and wipe dry or alcohol spray now but wondered what is safe and recommended.

You should avoid any alcohol or other chemicals unless stated as okay in your user guide.

The choice of cloth is critical. I only use a clean microfiber, 100% cotton cloth. One made for eyeglasses works. A slight mist with distilled water is safe. Endust for Screen and Electronics works great too and is what I use. Rub gently. Pressing too hard can damage the display panel.

FYI - If you wash your cleaning cloths, double rinse to ensure all soaps are removed. And never ever use fabric softener (especially dryer sheets) with them. They will cause hair pulling, raised blood pressure streaks. I just let them air dry.
