Used to be I could do this but now I only get a circle with a line through it. Doesn't work any more. Anyone know why or how to correct this?

It seems to be a computer glitch with just your computer, Bill.

No, since none of us has the problem you have. We can't guess what is preventing this from working on your computer. You'll have to put up with it until it decides to start working again.

It actually DID start working for a short while but then quit again. I still get a pop-up box saying "old Firefox is still working" and I click CLOSE and it closes. then a new window opens.

How can I close the old Firefox? (see uploaded pop-up box). If I close this box a new window opens. But What is this "old Firefox"?

You click the close Firefox box shown in your image.

The "old" Firefox means more than one instance of Firefox is running.

I don't think you do. But just to be 100% certain do the following:
    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Click on Programs and Features
    3. Scroll down and capture a screenshot of Mozilla Firefox ESR.
    4. Paste the results in your next post.

There is a Mozilla Maintenance Service box and a Mozilla Firefox ESR (x64 en-US) but I cannot find a way to take a picture of them. If I find a way I will post a picture. Will look at it tomorrow. But I do not see any other Firefox listings but these.

Use the snipping tool. All Programs/accessories/snipping tool.
