Every once in a while I need help with a computer problem from someone that has experienced the same.
I will reach out to the members for possible solutions and then life will go on.
My computer experience started in the 1980s when I worked for Heath Co. as a manager in one of their retail stores. Operating systems was CP/M, DOS, and HDOS. Up from there. Since 1998 after retirement I have been repairing computers for seniors in the area. Keeps my mind active. Repairs include replacing hard drives, install operating systems, repair RAM, replace CPUs, replacing screens, repair or replace laptop power jacks, loosen up tight laptop hinges and replacing hinges before break occurs. Removing viruses and installing tools to keep computer running fast and efficient. Training, writing tutorials (sample pdf file attached), volunteer teaching computers at senior center. The list goes on and on. But, you get the idea.

Hello there Boonski. Let's see ... Northern Michigan. Furthest I've been was to Mackinac Island. It was good.

    You'll fit in well here.

Three comments on your Maintenance Basics:
    1) CCleaner - I don't like to run its registry cleaner.
    2) SSDs are becoming more common. Don't run defrag on them.
    3) MalwareBytes AntiMalware is a great application. Why not run the full version?

    Hi Tony,
Some good advise and I will modify the tutorial accordingly.
Never had a problem running the reg cleaner but probably most users should just do the "Run Cleanup".
The free version of Malwarebytes works well for me.

    Hey Tony,
    Forgot to mention:
I was raised in Petoskey, Mi 35 miles from Mackinac Island.
Did some genealogy research on Ancestry.com after a DNA test and found out I was 1% native american and my 10th great grandmother was an Indian on Mackinac Island. ....very interesting.

Her name was: Catherine (Kitchegeequa) Brillant dit Beaulieu, born 28 Apr 1753. She married a French soldier. Probably the only thing on the Island at that time was the Fort, and an Indian village with teepees.
