    Hello all. :cool-21:
I was here awhile back with a SANDBOX issue. I never figured it out, but, oh well.
I seem to have a few new issues now. I like to use AOL. I have been an AOL customer since 1994. I use Google every now and again, but mostly AOL.
Lately, while on AOL, I will put my mouse pointer down on my task bar to open it, but can't. I decrease AOL to the bottom, then I can open my task bar. ???????
At start up I was getting a black screen reading that I need a new battery. It would ask me to press ENTER and the LT would start as usual. But, my LT would change its power settings on its own. I would have it set at HP RECOMMENDED and it will switch to HIGH PERFORMANCE. Will the new battery fix this? The LT was built in 2010, so it is the factory battery.
Just out of curiosity, can a bad battery cause a LT to have problems like mine is having, or any other kind of problems?
Thanks for the help guys and gals!
I bought the new battery from EBAY.

The battery isn't going to affect your browser.

Is your screen resolution set to low which may cause the AOL screen to be partially hidden?

OR is your computer monitor set to Full Screen which will completely cover your task bar?

To check for Full Screen, (In Internet Explorer), Click on View at the top of your menu bar.

    Good point Cindy.

We need to know what BLUE means exactly by, "decrease AOL to the bottom" and if he / she means the Window's taskbar or some sort of AOL taskbar.

In addition to what's already been said....

A laptop does not need a battery to function normally, that is as long as it is plugged into a mains adaptor.
Try removing the battery altogether, and plugging the mains adaptor in. Does this affect any of the issues you have had?

One other point... Are you sure that the battery warning you are getting concerns the main power battery. It could be that
your Cmos/Bios battery is defective. When this happens you can usually tell by checking if the date and time are incorrect.

If it is your Cmos battery, we can help you with that.

In regards to the power settings:

If the battery is defective (not the CMOS battery), then the laptop might not recognize it, and therefore it reverts to high performance. Or, there's third party software that's changing it.

Are you be any chance referring to the AOL browser?
I've had this recently with a user that was having computer problems.... he was using the AOL browser.
The AOL browser hasn't been updated in 10 years!

When I minimize the AOL window, to put the AOL window on the task bar below.
Also, when the BLACK SANDBOX flashes on my screen, the battery settings change. My screen gets dim. I then go check the battery settings and they are on HIGH PERFORMANCE, instead of HP RECOMMENDED, where I have them set at.
My new battery will be here this Wednesday!

No. When I put the mouse on the task bar, it opens up, sometimes. Sometimes I have to minimize the window to get the task bar to appear. I dunno! It's COOYON!

Glad I'm not alone, as I can't picture nor understand the issue.

    Same here.:confused-92:

BLUEOVALFITTER. Did you remove the battery altogether, and run on mains as PSEFrank suggested?
To see if any issues change. I bet not.:(

The new battery arrived today, (2) days early. I installed it and it was charged 43%. As I type this it is charging.
You members here are very smart and computer savvy. And, I respect that. That's the reason I come here for information; I'm not smart enough to know ALMOST everything about computers, but I know enough to keep myself out of trouble. Anything else, I will come here and ask you fine people.
Since I have installed the new battery, my LT is on FIRE! I have not seen it this quick since day (1)! Some of you, maybe all of you, don't believe what I just stated, but, you're not here. You don't know how much of a boat anchor this LT has been. All I know is, the new battery is installed and it's blazing a trail!
