Hello. I recently got a new Lenovo C240 series desktop through mail order, it comes with it's own WIN 8 cd. Now when i power on the Lenovo, it immediately goes to the freeDOS screen where i have no idea what to do.

I've researched through out google for solutions and here's what i know from that research.

    1. pressing f1 during start up leads me to bios
    2. pressing f2 during start up leads me to the windows logo and eventually to the Lenovo rescue system 4.0
    3. pressing f12 during start up leads me to startup device menu where i have device options.

Now i don't know what to do here with each of them. I will give you

    1. with Bios, don't know what to do.
    2. When i try the Lenovo Rescue System, i am given two options.
    -A) One Key Recovery
    -B)Driver and Application Installtion
When i try the One Key recovery, I am given 2 additional options: Initial Back up, and Restore from users Back up. When i select Initial Back up i get "Current system can't support back up". When i select Restore from Users Back up, i have two options: Default Path and Select Another Image. Selecting the Default Path gives me: Image file is not valid, please select a valid image. When i select Select another image, i am given a menu that contains folders, i've tried each folder but i end up getting the same message: Image file not valid.

So i try Driver and Application option, and i just get installation failed. In short I go no where after pressing F2 during start up.

    3. When i go to the device options (f12), i am given 3 options: SATA1, SATA2, AND NETWORK 1. I tried choosing each of them but they just lead me back to freeDOS. Still getting nowhere.

I have no idea what to do, can someone please help me? I'm assuming the key is in pressing f2.. not so sure, but all i know is i need to install win 8 in order to use this new lenovo.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but Lenovo shipped you a pc that you have to install Windows 8 on? Did they tell you this?
To install Windows 8, assuming it is not on there and I have trouble assuming that unless this is a refurbish from someone other than Lenovo.
Ok if I take you literally after pressing the power button start tapping F12 continuously until you see the option to boot to dvd drive and then choose dvd drive and then you should see a bar across the bottom as
the install starts. It should lead you from there but you can refer to this below if you like:
