HELP!! Trouble with Windows Mail and AOL

I'm ready to pull my hair out tonight! I'm a little computer illiterate so to speak, and I was finally so proud of myself, I THOUHT I had finally figured out how to set my new laptop up for the Outlook mail. I followed the directions step by step, but now I cannot send anything. I have a HP laptop, windows vista os, and I use AOL for my mail. The instructions were to set it up as IMAP or POP, I tried IIMAP at first, and when that didn't work, I tried setting it up as POP. Everything looked like it was working, but it wouldn't send my mail. I am so frustrated! I'm even having problems with accessing my AOL mail on AOL! This just sarted tonite, too! I can sign in, and I can see my mail in the preview box, but when I click it to open it, it won't open! Even when I registered on this site, I had to click the URL to actually be able to get in, and it never came to the Windows mail, and I couldn't get it to open in the AOL mail! If I wouldn't have had an iPhone, I wouldn't even have been able to log in to type this! HELP ME!!! WHAT IS WRONG ???!!! The error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Safe Page Info', Account: 'pop.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

 

This means that connections between you and the mail server. You must have the settings wrong.
Open Outlook settings and double check the information you set. Make sure it is the same as on this page:
