Google have announced that they will be closing the basic HTML version of Gmail in January.

The bottom line is this : I keep all things Google forbidden / locked with Noscript in my Firefox. That is non-negotiable.

Google search actually works better with scripts forbidden - still functional but with less noise / clutter.

So, I guess the only options open to me are...

    (1) Change my email

    or

    (2) Find a way of keeping some form of HTML Gmail alive.

On option 2, I wonder if the following would work...

    1. View thesource code for basic HTML Gmail -> select all -> copy

    2. Paste the copied code into a blank Notepad file, save as *.htm

    3. Point my Firefox to the HTML file on my hard drive when I wanted to read my emails.

Would this actually work? If not, is there anything similar that would? (I know a bit of CSS, but that's as far as my coding knowledge goes).

Welcome to Computer Help Forums, Lighthouse Boy.

I don't think that will work.
I just read the article and your possible work-around doesn't seem feasible.

Thank you for the replies....and the welcome!

I'm guessing that myworkaround won't work then.e knows of or can think of a workaround, please post here.

Assuming not, time for me to start a new thread looking for a new webmail provider.
