I cannot stop Firefox search suggestions even when it is unchecked. Chrome is also unchecked and nO search suggestions appear. DuckDuckGo search and box for search suggestions is NOT checked. How can I STOP them?

Yes, but the suggestions appear anyway. I still have the 68.0.2 but am thinking I will update to 69.0 and figure out how to set it. And the Chrome browser looks same as this and it does NOT show search suggestions. Firefox did not but just started to recently even though set not to. I just tried it again several times and suggestions always appear.
If I update is there some way to keep all my settings the same?

As I said elsewhere, I upgraded from 60.9 ESR to 68.1 ESR and I only lost one thing, my theme. All settings and bookmarks and bookmark tool icons stayed the same.

Going to try it again. Can always use Chrome if do not like or until learn how to fix.
By The Way - what should I do with the "Old Firefox Data" folder that appears on the desktop??

Are you typing in the address bar and or the search bar when this happens?

Look under Privacy and Security for Address Bar and see if taking the tics out help. May have to restart Fire Fox for it to take affect.

Is this happening with all search engines or just one?

If you login to the the search engine there may be some place in the settings like there is in Google.

It is like this but cannot show the suggestions because they disappear if I try to take picture. The Chrome looks like this with NO search suggestions. The Firefox has a list of suggestions appear when I type any letter into the box. Never USED to occur with any version once I set the preferences not to show search suggestions.Cannot find any other place to control this. Always used to simply uncheck the show suggestions box. Strange.

    Open DuckDuckGo

Click the three horizontal bars to the right of the twitter image

    Select Other Settings

Scroll down the list till you find the following and turn it off.

Now if you remove the cookie for DuckDuckGo then you will have to redo the settings.

I used to remove cookies but do not anymore because I found that some are needed for my logins and if I examine them I am not sure what to keep or delete. So I just keep them now. This cleanup gets complicated. Used to have a desktop shortcut for cookie folder until I found I did not know what to keep and what to delete. When I began with computers cookies were bad things. Now some are needed. But to know which are and which are not is difficult.

I see no reason to delete cookies. They’re yummy.

Try Incognito Mode and the Duck Duck Go extension.

Here's info on Incognito Mode using Chrome https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?co=GENIE.Platform=Desktop&hl=en

Here's an email I received from Duck Duck Go yesterday

Have you attempted the instruction in Post # 11 and did it help?

I just did this. I was surprised to see that all of these were set to ON. I remember always checking them and turning them off only to find them back on again for some reason. I have not done this for a long time but I did try this and IT DID WORK !. The AutoSuggestions did NOT appear !
Have to make a note of this. Thanks very much. Was driving me crazy. Also must make a not to check it now and then, like EVERY TIME I START UP. Appreciate this. Just did not try it until now. Thanks again.
