I use Firefox and have for ever for all my browsing. I have a account with the Social Security online. I was having problems getting on my account for a while now so I thought I would investigate. Apparently our (the USA) government doesn't like a secure web site. I did a search and there was a guy that got a answer from SSA that only Internet Explorer works on their web site.
Well I use Linux and I am not about to go to my windows machine and use crappy IE. I opened up Brave browser and with a little script adjustment I was in. I do believe Google Chrome will most likely work also but I don't really care for that browser. I am just putting this out there for any one that may be having this type of problem. It turns out my wife came up with this answer to change browsers and she was right but you didn't hear that from me. This was all after being on hold last night for 1 hour with them. Maybe I can save some one that grief down the road.

You might want to try again because there may be another issue somewhere.

Using W7, I was able to get into the site (SSA.gov) and view my projected benefits using both Firefox and Chrome.

I was also successful on my Linux Mint 18 machine using Firefox.

What version FF you have? I am running 83.0 (64-bit) Firefox for Mint 1.0.

I also tried with VPN off, Popup blocker off, U Block Origin off.and privacy badger off. For one thing they still require flash on their web site which is not secure. This is what I get every time I try to sign in on FF:

On the Linux machine, I have FF 83.0 (64-bit), the same as you. I didn't have it on the machine earlier today. I downloaded it this afternoon to run this test.

My Linux machine is pretty clean. I haven't done anything to it since I installed the OS. I only use it once in a while.

I don't recall installing Flash separately.

Can you create a new account on that machine? Wouldn't that allow you to run FF without any extensions? Maybe there's a FF Safe Mode for Linux you can try.

Yep you can run it in safe mode I guess that is what it is called. I can disable all the extensions manually also no problem. I just disabled all extensions I will see what happens. Well you are correct one of my extensions is causing it good find Tony thanks.

    It said
My guess is that it hasn't been implemented at SSA.GOV because it's a proposed standard, not an accepted standard.

Yeah I suppose just glad you figured it out it was driving me nuts and it is only a short drive. Some times I forget to try the easy stuff first. Thanks for the input and help. Also I guess I need to stop playing around with extensions I don't need on my main machine.

I didn't figure it out. I just had more machine to test with. The Linux machine was good because it was a clean system. I don't understand Linux enough to mess around with it. I could hardly figure out how to install Firefox. Right now it's sitting in my Downloads folder. Haven't figured out how to introduce it to the OS so that it gets listed as a Web app.

I install things from the synaptic package manger. It is in the menu under administration. There you can install anything you want easily. I have several machines also but most are sync d to my Firefox account.

This is the link for SSA https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/
It is a secure site. I went to it 4 times since late November. I use Firefox with no problem.
