Yesterday I got a pop up from my anti virus alerting me there was a high risk virus on my computer. After the scan it told me to restart to get rid of all traces of it so I did. When it started back up this alert box pop up from "desktop" saying a file in my temp folder could not be found and to make sure it exists or remove it. Also, when I try to start up firefox it says page not found and to make sure I'm connected to the internet (which I am, AIM stil works). I tried EI just to see and it says the same thing. It gives me an option to connect to internet and when I click that it tells me I am already connected.

I have ran the anti virus multiple times since then and nothing is showing up now, yet everytime I restart that alert box shows up with the missing file and both firefox and EI will not work.

    please help! :(

Sarah it looks as if you have yourself a nice little infection from a rogue program. Don't be surprised if you get a message asking you for money to fix it.

I don't know what AV program you are using but lets hope we can sole it with another scan. If you can go to this site http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free and download the free version of Malwarebytes. Then allow it to run. Once it comes up on your screen make sure that you first click on the update tab and bring it up to date. Then run a full scan of your computer. It will take a pretty long time.

If you are unable to download because of the problems you are having you many need to use another computer and save it to a flash drive. You should be able to run it from there.
