Can anyone tell me why when I now try to open Google window I see a Firefox Icon appear at top left corner of screen. When I open Google and check settings it says Google is my default browser. Is this just some trick to get me to make Firefox the default? Never known this to happen before now. Actually it HAS happened a few times in the last few days but this time I thought I would ask. I DO have firefox installed on the laptop as well as Edge and Brave but these never impose themselves.

Because you get terms confused, I'm not sure what you mean by "google window". You could mean google search or Chrome window.

Post a screenshot so I can see what you see and can then know exactly what you clicked to open that window.

I have a Google Search icon in my bottom tray which I click to open a google search. I think it was trying to make Firefox my default browser to which I said "not now". Has not happened since. I also have a DuckDuckGo Search icon but I stopped using it when it stopped saving my searches.

You're using Google's search engine. I don't think you can turn off search suggestions.

In my previous post about the Firefox window I meant Google Search. But I confess I DID call it a window which was no doubt confusing. Sorry.
I looked at the previous and Found out I already DO have autocomplete turned off as it says. Maybe I shall have to simply return to DuckDuckGo search.
