I have Vista home on Acer 4720Z, laptop. I checked Performance Info in Control Panel, advanced tools. I found 18 problems, 5 in boot, 6 in shutdown, and 7 in standby. The link on page giving this info goes to Microsoft, but is not working, so I can't find out what the error numbers mean. For example, in Boot, 100, 101, 102, 103, 107, 109, 110. Shutdown has 200, 201, 203, 400, 401, 402. I have no idea what these mean, some are labeled error, some are critical, some are warnings. How do I find out ? Thanks.

I am not all that sure what you were looking at. Are you referring to the event viewer logs found under Administrative tools?

What problems are you encountering besides what you have read?

Control Panel, Performance Info, left pane, Advanced Tools. Performance details on Event Log. On start up, screen was black, with white lettering. Sorry it was 4 am, no glasses on. It was (i think) windows vista, build no. etc. Have had IE9 close down several times. Log stated that : Microsoft ISATAP Adapter is disabled, tried to install driver, it is already installed, still cannot enable it. Code 31.

Don't get too involved with what you see in the event viewer unless you are having problems. You have no need to concern yourself with the ISATAP adapter unless you are an enterprise user (business with IP connections and a server) so just ignore it. There is no connection between it and Internet Explorer.

It would be best if you stopped trying to fix "problems" until you are sure that you actually have one, that is what we are here for. :)

How often does IE shut down?
