Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly.

The following message came up when I tried to instal Finale 2008 (music
notation software), which relies on the Microsoft C++ 2005 installer:
'Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly.
Microsoft.VC80.ATL.type="win32".version="8050727.762"."publicKeyToken"="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="X86"'.

I tried a re-instal of Finale 2008 with prior closing down of Norton
Anti-Virus, and all other processes that I could close down, but I got the
same error on re-installing Finale 2008.

So, I looked at the Application log and got the following information:

'The problem with FINMIDI.dll is reported in the Application Event log as:*

*Activation context generation failed for "C:\PROGRAM FILES\FINALE
2008\FINMIDI.DLL". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT
,processorArchitecture="x86"
,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762"
could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.*

I tried running sxstrace.exe, but I did not get any alphanumeric output from
it.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks Peter, but I don't think this relates to my problem. Do you have any
other ideas?

Further to my previous message of today, I installed the standalone C++ 2005
Redistributable package 'vcredist_x86.exe', and got a very similar message,
except that this time, it gave an HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

I have looked at the Event Viewer Application log for the error running the
C++ 2005 Redistributable package 'vcredist_x86.exe', and I have copied the
information below.
vcredist_x86.exe
Product: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Error 1935. An error
occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.ATL,type="win32",
version="

Hi guys:

This is the same problem I am getting while trying to install MS Office
Professional Plus 2007 in newly installed Windows Vista 32 bit OS. I can not
install MS Money too due to the same problem.

MS corportation has asked to install or repair .netframework 2 as a
solution. But when I tried to do that, it says it is already installed. I can
not see add/remove program feature in control pannel. Instead when I used
turn windows feature on/off by clicking program icon, i saw .netframwork 3.0
with solid sqaure. I tried several time to get a tick mark in square but
everytime there was error. Ironically, i have successfully installed
yahoomessenger and adobe flash player, but ms's own program is not getting
installed. Ple help me and reply me in my e-mail too

This issue belongs to the MS office newsgroups. Repost your question there. Off 2007 Plus is an Add On from a 3rd party software supplier and not MS and you should really be directing your questions at them
