EMAIL NOT WORKING

    I have a Dell Windows 7 64 bit laptop Inspiron M5040 and the google gmail email stopped being able to connect so I cannot use email now. I am looking for a free email service that will work with windows 7 because now I cannot even connect to gmail, let alone send or receive. I used to use Operamail but I tried downloading it and it would not respond. I am in need of a right-now free email service if there is the possiblility that the Google gmail will not work with windows 7 anymore. I feel helpless without an email I can use. Anyone suggest anything for me to do or try????

    First of all Google Mail (gmail) is not an application. It's a web site that you visit. Sounds like you have a browser problem.

    Try another browser and go to mail.google.com

    It is only the Gmail that is not connecting and opeing. TheGoogle and otherwebsitess are opening OK.

    There are two threads going at this point referring to your gmail access. In the other thread you stated that you were unable to get thru the verification process. I think in one of the thread you stated that you can access your gmail with another computer. Go to the other computer and see what you have set up for security.
    Click on your account icon in the upper right corner of your gmail window.
    Click on Manage your Google Account.
    On the left hand side, click on the Security button.
    See what you have for the 2-step verification phone. If you have a cell phone, use that phone number so you can get text messages.​

    Still cannot log onto my Gmail account. Am using my wife's computer which is but chann an ASUS W10 laptop. No time to try and figure out what went wrong with MINE. About a week after Verizon tech upgraded my set top boxes and changed things around. I never have tried or used text messages. Know nothing about it. The tech did not simply replace the two TV set-top boxes but changed connections and put router in different room. Never explained anything. Just did the work and left.

    Now have messages that there are 16 gmail messages in my email that I cannot read for cannot open gmail-only get the screen referring me to the troubleshooting site.

    Does anyone know how I can undo this email issue. It MAY have to do with the recovery phone number- I believe I saw this somewhere. I cannot get to the gmail website. I get the "Visit the GMAIL HELP CENTER" which does not really help me at all.

    Not with what you have recovery set at.

    Log into gmail on your wife's Windows 10 computer. Read your emails, save what you want and delete the rest.

    I have our gmail accounts set up to a recovery email address with another service. Go into your account and see what your recovery options are set at. Change the phone number, if you need to AND add an email address if possible.

    If that doesn't work, the other possibility is to get an android tablet, which is cheaper than a smart phone and has a larger screen, and use that for gmail access since you have no way to get to it on your Windows 7 computer.

    Once you are logged into email on your wife's computer, click your picture at the top right and you will see a button that says Manage your google account. Click on it.

    In the left column, click on Personal info.

    Under Contact Information, there is an email section and a phone section.
    Click on the > aside of the email and you have the chance to add a Recovery email.

    How/Where can I get a new version of Gmail for Windows 7 laptop. There is some problem with my current one. Maybe the recovery phone number is wrong or something? Cannot get it to work. Wants me to go to the G Mail help center if I try to open it. That is no help. I would like to upgade if I can.

    ***Uh Oh...I just realized I had not tried these suggestions yet. I will do that in the meantime.

    I cannot receive a text message that google Wants to send me and I need to know how to get a new email. an anyone suggest anything? I now have Google chrome and Gmail. If I try to open Gmail I get the scrreen to go to gmil help center which does not seem to help me for I do not know what to do. Now the other computer seems to have lost its recovery phone number and wants to send a text message code.

    You are going to create another new gmail account.

    First go to here
    Code:
    https://accounts.google.com/signin
    . Do not try to sign in. Obviously you can't and continually trying to do so, gets you nowhere. So ignore the first line where I have erased my working gmail address.

    Next click on Use another account, the 2nd entry on the screen.

    Once you do that, you will get this screen.

    Click the create account link and follow the instructions.

    Set up a recovery phone number that you know works. If you aren't sure, ask before you create the account.

    I've asked a couple time what happens if he goes to mail.google.com but he doesn't respond to the question. A response would help in determining what the problem is.

    If I click my Gmail shortcut I get this screen. See fileupload. I have 21 letters in my gmail I cannot access.
    Sorry if I failed to respond to anything. Trying to figure out how to get Gmail back again.
