Distortion ?

    Hi, I have a small problem really in the world of pc's, but it's driving me crazy!.. i DIDNT NOTICE IT UNTIL A RECENTLY INSTALLED A NEW MONITOR. NOW WHENEVER I PLAY A SONG OR WATCH A VIDEO THERE IS DISTORTION AT VARIOUS PARTS OF PLAYBACK.iT HAPPENS ONLY FOR A SPLIT SECOND, IT'S LIKE A BUZZ AND THE MEDIA HANGS FOR A SPLIT SECOND. tHIS HAPPENS WITH ANY MEDIA AND NOT ONLY INTERNET PLAYBACK IT ALSO HAPPENS WITH MP3 FILES I'VE HAD ON MY HARD DRIVE FOR A WHILE.i'VE UPDATED THE DRIVERS FOR MY SOUND CARD(ON BOARD) AND TRIED DIFFERENT SPEAKERS. i'M HAVING A HARD TIME BELIEVING IT'S THE MONITOR CAUSING THE PROBLEM, WHEN I TURN OFF THE MONITOR I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM.hOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP, THANKS, GUY

    Please turn off the CAPS - it is the same as shouting on forums :)

    Have you tried updating the sound drivers ?

    Hi if you have updated the drivers for your sound and the problem is still there, it may be something in the background hogging resources rather than a problem with the sound system itself.
    How much RAM memory do you have, what is the processor, and also what are you using for antivirus and firewall, those last can really hog resources.

    Hi, Sorry for the caps, no shouting intended, just easier for me to see. Thanks for all of your suggestions.I think i have solved my problem. I seems the culprit was my back up drive, I unpluged it this morning and viola no more distortion! Guess I'll only plug it in once a week or so and un plug it after back up is complete.Once again many thanks to all, Guy
