Simply just do not know what to do so have made no progress on disposing of 5-6 old computers, monitors, keypads which probably work but not used. Forgotten how to use or format and need a step by step procedure. Have a large 1990's LX-200 Meade telescope I do not plan to use. Do not want to just throw these things away, or sell them, or take them anywhere, but would just donate or give them to some place that wanted them to get rid of the problem. Except I do not know how to go about doing it. Would like to simply format the computers as do not think any highly dangerous content is there. If anyone has any ideas or comments on how to proceed I would live to hear them. Plenty of other more pressing things to do but wife is getting demanding about disposing of things.

Call Goodwill or similar establishments. They may pick up the items or you can deliver them.

I purchased an LX-200 in the 1990's from Meade. Learned to use it but now do not use it although as far as I know it still works. It is supported on tripod and I also got a wheeled trolley to roll it in and out of garage. Only used in my driveway in Fall-Spring months.I do not really want it anymore and do not wish to throw it away or give it away but to sell it for a very reasonable and acceptable price. If you are interested or know of someone who is please advise me or make an offer.I will probably not use it again. Not sure how to contact you or for you to contact me. Never did that before on the forum.
The computers work but are old and I do not believe have any current sensitive data on them so I would likely just format them and give them away if I can recall how to format. They are W98, W98se and XP and are desktops with monitors and keyboards. Busy with many other things and no real time to devote to disposal or investigating the methods and options. The telescope I would like to sell but the computers are outdated and no one would likely buy them. I/we use 3 laptops now. A W-10, W-7, and W-XP which seems enough. I live in Warminster PA.

Thanks for the reply on the LX.

I've decided to pass on it due to logistical problems.

Looks like a nice telescope when I worked for Questar corp they were a good competitor. Ours were all aluminum and brass no plastic though. Wish I had a place to put it I would take it. As far as the scope maybe goodwill or donate it to a telescope group in your area. The computers just format the hard drives and scrap them. I don't think any organization wants older computers any more.

    Yes, Questar made good scopes.

BG- On second thought, I might still have a good home for the scope. Please send me a personal message by clicking on my name and choosing, "Start a Conversation".
