Now all of a sudden My deskktop has All th desktop icons 1 inch to right and a 1 inch strip from top to bottom on the left with the tray items in this strip. How do I undo this???? See uploaded photo. I must have accidentally done this but do not know how. What do I do??? Want it back to normal. Never have I seen anything like this. If nobody knows I may try a quick restore if it is that way on startup tomorrow.

Move the taskbar from the left side to the bottom.
    1. Right click a blank area of the "strip" on the left which is the taskbar. Select Properties.
    2. In the Windows that appears, look for Taskbar on screen and change it from left to bottom.

Thank you. I made a copy of what you said but the quick restore to 8-10-24 fixed it for now. If it happens again I will be prepared.

Plodr: Thank you for the suggestion. At first I thought I would try shutting down then restarting in morning. Unfortunately it was still there so not knowing if or when I might get a suggestion without waiting any longer I ran a convenient quick restore to 8-10-24. That worked. I must have caused this somehow but do not know how and such has never happened since I started with computers in 1990-1992. Since the quick restore fixed it I did not have a chance to learn what caused it but I saved your suggestion in case it returns.
I tried doing this aftr corrected but I did not see a PROPERTIES choice but this was after the mysterious desktop had returned to normal so maybe it does not appear unless problem exists? But if it happens again I will be more prepared.

I finally found the "taskbar location on the screen" but decided not to mess with it lest it changes it back like it was before I fixed it. I do not like it on the left side of screen. I never realized you could move it around. Maybe I did it myself by accident? I see there are 4 positions: Bottom, Left, Right, and Top. All my taskbars have always been at the bottom of screen. I have never knowingly changed it. Have had 4 computers since I began.

Change it to the bottom - don't keep restoring your computer. Because your Malwarebytes and FF will be out of date and constantly need updating.
After you have changed it to the bottom, Lock the taskbar. Put a check/tick in the top box.

Is there a quick way to arrange desktop icons in alphabetical order? They seem to keep changing.
I tried moving them one by onee but after awhile they are out of order again

You download something called DesktopOK. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/desktopok.html
    1. Arrange the icons the way you want.
    2. Run DesktopOK which takes a snapshot, with the date, of the current arrangement.

If/when the icons get mixed up, run DesktopOK but this time restore rather than creating a snapshot of the arrangement.

Remember, every time you add something new or remove something from your desktop, you have to take a snapshot. If you don't and you restore, it will be an old arrangement with either new items missing or old items appearing and if you click on the old items, if you've removed the program they refer to, nothing will happen or you will see some sort of error pop up.
