DESKTOP ICONS

    In XP HOME SP3 my desktop icons if moved to , say, middle of screen, with the mouse they would jump back to where they were and always line up with the group on left. Suddenly I began to be able to place them in a location on desktop by moving them and they would stay. I like this but would like to know where this is controlled and set to do this. Does anyone know where this setting is located? I have looked but have not found it.

    Right click on a blank space on the desktop and remove the tick for auto arrange.
