Does anyone know how to delete unwanted contacts in the new message COMPOSE "To" line? I have many I no longer need or want. When Gmail opens I click "Compose" then when the New Message appears I type for instance the letter A. Then all the contacts beginning with "A" appear in a list for me to select one. HOW do I go about removing or deleting all the listied contacts I no longer want in that list? Thanks for any help doing this.

Go to contacts.google.com and delete whatever contacts you want from the list.

Funny...when I do this and go to contacts.google.com and do what it says a window opens and it says I have No contacts, But all I have to do is open gmail, click compose, type a letter in the "To" box and it shows a lot of contacts. I will keep working at it. Some I need; many I do not need or want.

First, go into All Settings in your gmail account.
On the General tab, scroll down until you find Create contacts for auto-complete
Be sure the 2nd item is selected, I will add contacts myself.

When I type the first letter of an email address, I'm presented with every email in my contacts that starts with this letter.
If you see a listing of email addresses, they have to be listed at https://contacts.google.com/

I do not seem to know how to do this. My gmail seems to have changed from what used to be. Unfamiliar.

This whole Google/Gmail thing either has become too compliicated for me or I never knew it was like this. Can seem to get nowhere. Page after page. It has recovery phone number but says it is not verified and I cannot figure out how to do so. Giving up on it for now.
