One day my netbook (I am using Windows 7 Starter) was connecting to the internet perfectly, and the next, I get nada. I try to connect to my router, but it says "Limited access" and displays an unidentified public network.

I have tried all of the solutions on this page: http://pocketpccentral.net/blog/2009/11/11/windows-7-unidentified-network-limited-access-no-internet-connection-problem-resolved/ but the problem remains.

When I ran troubleshooting, it just said "Problem with wrireless adapter or access point." The only solution it offered was to unplug and replug my router, but that didn't work. I have also tried resetting the router.

    Please help. I am desperate.

I agree that you may have to wait but trying this will not make things worse. I am assuming that when you say you reset your router you also have a modem as opposed to a single combined modem/router.

Shut down your computer. Unplug the Modem and Router. Leave them unplugged for 2 minutes. Reset the modem. Plug in the Modem first and then the router. Once the modem lights are fully back reboot the computer.

On a different note, have you tried connecting your pc to the router with the ethernet cable?

    Hi,

BeeCeeBee has given good advice, wireless problems usually come from the router being unable to send the IP information, which gives you your limited connectivity problem.

Unplugging the router via the power cord and waiting a few minutes before plugging it in usually resolves it.

Open a command window (cmd.exe) press the windows key and r then type cmd.exe and hit enter, a black window should open.
Type ipconfig/all then hit enter, this is where it shows what ip your using DHCP etc LET us know if every field is populated and if there are any that arent or say disabled which

I left the router unplugged for several minutes, and when I checked the connection on the netbook, it is connected to my router and I can access the Internet, however it still says that I am also connected to an unidentified network.

When I used the command prompt everything looked normal under Wireless Adapter, but under Tunnel Adapter it said "media disconnected" and DHCP was disabled.

Have you tried to connect with an ethernet cable as this in essence 'evades' any security on the router.

If there is more than one wireless signal in your area (a neighbour also has wireless for example) then it is possible that your laptop is trying to connect to more than one network, you can check this via the NETWORK tab or the wireless signal settings (which should show on the bottom right, where the clock is etc)

If you right click the wireless and then select properties, there is a list of networks that are 'preferred' MAKE sure that your own is the only one in that list.

If you need step by step instructions I can do them, but not from my current location

In regards to DHCP this is where your router automatically assigns IP addresses, this can be disabled, but it is much easier to leave it enabled as you can end up with many problems like IP address conflicts if you try and use more than one device on the network
