    When I use the 2gb card, everything works fine no matter what.

    Even after updating the bios to version 2901 and clearing the cmos, the 8gb card gives me one of two errors depending on how I put the ram.

    In one orientation the computer posts before it beeps one long & three short - gpu error

    When I move the sticks to the other slots, the computer doesn't post. just one long & four short beeps - hardware error

    The card lights up but my computer does not detect it while it's plugged in. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks in advance. I also updated the drivers.

    Hello and welcome sir.

    I assume this is a new build. Two things come to mind.

    1) This is a first-time use so we don't know if all the parts are in good working order.
    2) The parts may not be compatible with each other.

    You'll need other hardware to swap in/out to determine if the parts are good. If they are all good then there's a compatibility issue.

    I'd start by using a know good graphics card.
