cannot boot acer aspire laptop. says 'no bootable devices found'. have tried settings in bios- no go

    says 'no bootable devices found'. cannot boot from bios. can i connect to another laptop via cat 5 cable to restore?

    It sounds as if your hard drive died. You can't connect to another laptop via a cat 5 cable.

    If it is a hard drive failure, which I am in agreement with Cindy on that, about the only thing you can do to check is to remove the hard drive.
    Then using a USB caddy connect the drive via USB to another computer to see if the drive will work and can be accessed. If that draws a blank then the drive is dead.

    When I want to prove the hard drive is the culprit boot to a Linux live cd and while there plug in a usb external drive and copy off your files and data that you need.
    It sounds like the drive is bad. This is the one I find the easiest. http://www.pclinuxos.com/get-pclinuxos/
