In the Days that we had the 40 Pin Data Cable to Plug Hard Drives in there was 3. Connectors on it.

The Connector at the Far End was for the Motherboard.
The Connector at the other Far End was for the Master Hard Drive.

The Connector that was a little bit back from the Master Connector was the Slave Hard Drive.

But are these Connectors Color Coded?

They are usually color coded. If they are not color coded, they are marked Master and Slave.

It'll be hard to find any computer built after 2007 with IDE connectors. SATA configurations have replaced IDE.

The 2 for the drives were close together. Black for master; grey for slave. The board connector would be further away from the other two and probably blue.

    What are you up to?
