In Google Chrome /Settings/Privacy andSecurity /Clear Bowsing Data I frequently clear the browsing data but should I be clearing any of the other things also? If so, which to clear and which not?

I see no need to clear anything unless you experience a problem loading a web site.

I guess I must just be in cleaning mentality mode.

Too much cleaning breaks things. I've been at enough forums to see people get in trouble when they start clearing things out, especially things they shouldn't touch.
One guy used Revo Uninstaller and probably wasn't paying attention (things are marked in red for a reason), he wiped out an entire hive in his registry!

Unless you are running out of space on your hard drive, just let what is on the computer remain on it.

Cleaning too much from your browser may well end up slowing the browser down.
The browser will store info ready for next time it's needed.

I get it. I guess it is best just left alone. Like it used to be.

You really don't need to worry too much about cleaning and then the slow down that only lasts until you visit the site you like again what you want to worry about - and why you clean your cache and history is so that you don't have anything squatting (sitting there) in your browser history like passwords and site specifics and then have a loved one go behind you and click install on a fake security program that then captures that data. That's why you clear it
