I just received a browser update notice (see the uploaded file). Is this really necessary? I have been avoiding upgrading lately. I do have Windows Chrome I am now using but also Firefox and Edge. Maybe I should try using them. Any suggestions?

Unsure if this is right thing to do but since I have Firefox I just made it my default browser instead of Chrome.

Firefox, as all browsers, gets updated because of Security. Since you are running Windows 7, FF is safer than chrome because it is the only browser that is still supported on Windows 7 with security updates.

End of support Chrome and Windows 7, January 2023.

The support for Windows 7 and FF will come to an end in September 2024. The latest version is 115.11.0, ESR.
I encourage you to update FF. You need the protection if you spend time browsing and clicking on things on the internet.

I have no real objection to Firefox. I just got to preferring Google for some reason. I used FF for awhile and no problems. But I do not really want to upgrade Windows but would like a good easy to use browser.

SPAM: Messages have greatly increased. Always offers to renew accounts I never had, Free gifts (so they say), and more. Unbelievable. Used to hardly get ANY spam. Now more than ever. Did not see a reason to start a new thread.

Are you running any type of ad blocker, Bill?

Now getting SPAM GALORE. Accounts I never had are being closed, warnings about not being responsible if I am hacked etc. I just delete them as fast as I can keep up.
I do not recall having any Ad blockers. Never really seemed to need any.

You definitely should have a good ad blocker.

And how would I get one? I NEVER got more than a few Spams in my gmail before now, and that number has gone way up. And I never even heard of most all these accounts I supposedly have or had.
