We experienced a power outage today, now our computer will not boot up. All we get is a blue screen. Boot up only recognizes the Asus board and goes to a blue screen. What are the possible issues?

Hi Allan and welcome to Computer Help Forums.
Any messages on the Blue screen and what are the error codes at the bottom of the BSOD?

Every Blue screen shows an error code right at the bottom.
    You may have missed it.
Is this a desktop or Laptop?
If desktop disconnect from wall socket and check the motherboard for blown (swollen or split) capacitors, firstly.

I may be wrong, rather a blue screen it is black. The first screen shown is the Asus motherboard screen, the next screen the VIA Tecnologies info, than scans for devices and find none than goes to the black screen.
This is a desktop, motherboard looks okay with no blown or swollen capacitators.

Hi Alan. Any part of the computer that gives or receives power could have suffered from this Power Surge.
Quite often the power suply sustains damage. Can you try another Power supply for a test?
The grahics card seems OK because you get an initial screen.
You may have to reinstall the OS as the OS is not being picked up hense black screen

Hi, further to Dougies good advice, and just as a warning, we may find that the hard drive itself has been damaged by the power outage, the highlighted in red bit from your post gives me that idea. Can you be a little more specific about the wording, for example does it say "No boot device found" or something else as that is quite important.

    Nev.
