    Hi,
I have read that the ad ons from antivirus companies for Chrome and firefox browsers, do not add much security, thy are rather publicity for the company and a means to get and sell your data.
Is it so or some combinations, ex having avast free as antivirus the add on from kaspersky adds security or increases the browsing speed?

    Thanks

It would depend on what the addon is.
If it's a toolbar... then it's not needed.
Browser will come with all the toolbars you will every need.
    Anything extra is just baggage.

No addon will increase browsing speed.
If running Avast, why would you have an addon for Kaspersky?
    I'm a bit confused here.

precisely having Avast free as AV , adding the Kaspersky extension equivalent to " Avast online security" could mean that I would also benefit from Karspersky's list of suspicious sites, no? it is really so or not, in practice it would add nothing?

If this kind of extensions in practice do prevent connections with dubious sites, then I would save bandwith, no?

Then things will start to get messy.
Sometimes these big company programs don't really work well with each other..... if that's the case, you'll start to get problems.
The easiest way to approach this is .... to keep it simple.
Don't try and complicate matters by adding loads of different programs etc.

I can't see how you would save bandwidth by just stopping connections to dubious sites.
You would probably save more bandwidth by using a decent adblocker.
I see that you are running Win10.
I have one Win10 system running Windows Defender and have also added uBlock Origin.
uBlock Origin is more than an "ad blocker": it is a wide-spectrum blocker -- which happens to be able to function as a mere "ad blocker".
The default behavior of uBlock Origin when newly installed is to block ads, trackers and malware sites
    .
There are different versions of Ublock Origin for different browsers.

Sorry I'm not a fan of Avast ( haven't recommended it for ages) but if it works for you, that's fine.

Ok, I switched also to ublock origin, although blockcontent helper alsolooks very interesting, in particular it also blocks scripts
Avast looks excellent to me, particularly after having had Mcfee.

At the end of the day, it's what works for you.
